He is a member of the Association of Manipulative Physiotherapists (MACP) and also a member of the Association of Authorized Acupuncture Physiotherapists (AACP). During this time he worked closely with several physical therapists, which is where his interest in the profession began, and so when the opportunity to train to become a physical therapist became available through a plan established by the PFA (Association of Professional Footballers) at the University of Salford, he did not hesitate to take the opportunity to change careers when he began his course in 1994. Once qualified, he worked in the NHS for about 12 years working on the system to eventually become a lower extremity clinical specialist for Wirral PCT, but for the last 3 years of this period he was also working at the Willaston Physiotherapy Clinic as a private physician.
